BUTTWELD PIPE FITTING

BUTTWELD PIPE FITTING

A buttweld fitting is a welded pipe connection that allows you to change the flow direction, branch off, reduce pipe size, and attach auxiliary equipment. ANSI / ASME B16.9 buttweld fittings are made of forged steel. Elbows, tees, caps, reductions, and outlets are among the butt weld fittings offered (olets). The most common type of welded pipe fitting is the elbow, which is defined by the nominal pipe size and pipe schedule.

Description

Buttweld fittings start with seamless or welded pipe and are moulded (via various processes) into the shape of elbows, tees, and reducers, among other things. Butt weld pipe fittings are marketed in the same manner as pipe, from Schedule 10 to Schedule 160.

Due to the lower cost of stainless steel, welded butt weld fittings are more common. In stainless steel butt weld fittings, Sch 10 fittings are also more common.
